GreenTech Automotive (GTA), a US-based automotive manufacturer, has begun erecting steel support structures for its new electric vehicle production facility in Tunica, Mississippi.

The structural steel work at the plant began on 6 January 2014 and will continue through mid-February 2014. Exterior walls will go up in early February.

The construction of the plant is managed by Forcum Lannom Contractors. GTA expects the entire exterior structure, including walls and roof to be completed by the middle of March 2014. The company will then begin to move its production capacity into the new facility.

GTA chairman and CEO Charles Wang said that GTA's permanent manufacturing home in Tunica has been taking shape on the ground level for several months now, and they are looking forward to seeing the structure itself rise up in the coming weeks.

"As GTA continues to make significant progress toward our engineering, production and hiring goals, we're eager to move into the new facility when construction is complete this spring," Wang added.

GTA currently operates a pilot manufacturing facility in Horn Lake, Mississippi. It manufactures a two-seat neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV), MyCar, and four door, All-Electric Sedan, at this plant.
